Bill Bosher is a Managing Principal of Decide Smart. He has recently led projects coordinating state and county workforce development efforts, developing resource allocation strategies for public school systems, and conducting a superintendent search for a large school system.
Bosher also serves as Chair of the Board of Edvantia, a research and evaluation nonprofit that generates $12 million in annual revenue and as the Director of the Commonwealth Educational Policy Institute at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Bosher has been a chief executive of state and county school systems. He has served as the Superintendent of Public Instruction for the Commonwealth of Virginia, a system with more than 1,100,000 students. He has also been the Superintendent of Henrico County and Chesterfield County Schools, systems with 35,000-50,000 students. He is the only superintendent in Virginia to be twice named Superintendent of the Year and was voted Arts Administrator of the year by the Kennedy Center.
Bosher has also served as Dean of the School of Education at Virginia Commonwealth University, on the Board of Directors of the Education Commission on the States and the Appalachian Education Laboratory, and has been a fellow of SchoolNet and the Robert Wood Johnson’s Urban Health Initiative.
